A town of art and history

Noyon, a town of 15,000 inhabitants, is located in the heart of Picardy, 1 hour form Paris, where the valleys of the Rivers Oise and Verse meet. It is a surprising town, pleasant to live in. Noyon invites you to get away from it all and enjoy a change of scene throughout your stay.

Since 1998, the town has been designated Ville d’Art et d’Histoire (a town of art and history) by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication. This title is a token of national gratitude for the work undertaken by the heritage and architecture promotional services to highlight the value of the town’s heritage. This label also guarantees the proficiency of the guide/lecturers.

Guided tours of Noyon

Guided tours of Noyon are led by qualified guide-lecturers, certified by the Ministry of Culture and Communication. Passionately interested in culture, these guide-lecturers know all about local history and the highlights in their territory.

Sylvie HENRY, Guide-lecturer:
"I came to Picardy by chance, and fell under the spell of Noyon and the surrounding region. As a guide-lecturer, I want to share this deep attachment while giving visitors the key to a heritage that is as rich as it is varied, and where History is made up of little everyday stories. My greatest pleasure? When a visitor wants to come back again and says: ‘See you soon’."

Florence GODEFROY, Guide-lecturer:
"I was born in Picardy, and I am passionately interested in history, heritage and culture. I became a guide-lecturer to try and share my passion with you! I have also learnt sign language to make visits easier for people who are deaf or cannot understand."
To find out more about guided tours for groups, go to the Groups section, and for individual visits, go to the Excursions and Events section.
