“Get away from it all in Picardy’s Little Switzerland"

As you leave the charming town of Elincourt-Sainte-Marguerite, skirt the lush grounds of the Renaissance-style Bellinglise Chateau. Just a stone’s throw from this historic place are the small wooded valleys of the Thiescourt mountains.

This often mountainous area of forest slopes, wet valleys and rocky plains is aptly dubbed “Picardy’s Little Switzerland”. Extremely popular with nature lovers, its specially created trails take visitors through a surprisingly diverse landscape.

The best time to take in the views of the Matz valley is at the crack of dawn, when the dew is forming on the ground and nature is just waking up. The fresh smell of the undergrowth and the cry of the woodpeckers in the canopy gradually give way to the sights and sounds of rural life, with cocks crowing and cows mooing on their way to being milked.
